Stories Between Stops.
This blog started as a means to document the spaces between the frames. My thoughts, meals, detours, and quiet in-betweens during my travels and photography.
I’ve been making images professionally for well over 30 years, and there’s one thing I know: the best stories don’t always happen in front of the lens. Sometimes, they happen on those long flights from Guam to the west coast of the US mainland, from Japan to Chicago, while trying unfamiliar food in a new city, or during a golden hour that surprises you on an unfamiliar rooftop. These stories show up in quiet ways through people, places, and those small but memorable in-between moments.
TravelingPhotog.blog is my space to share those stories, both visual and written. Photography will always be my first love, but I’ve recently leaned into video. I vlog using my Fujifilm X-S20, paired with the XF16mm f/1.4 or Viltrox 13mm f/1.4, on a Fujifilm TG-BT1 tripod, with clean audio from the Sennheiser MKE 400 mic. I also recently picked up the Nikon Zf, which has reignited my love for going out and shooting without pressure.
I don’t talk about the technical stuff when it comes to gear, but I will talk about the gear I use; the equipment that travels with me, gets knocked around, and still delivers. Everything I carry has a purpose, from the Fujifilm X-H2S for my storytelling work to the Leica Q2 for more spontaneous moments. I’ll share the whats and whys of the gear that I use. When I’m stateside, I have access to rental shops, so I’ll probably rent stuff and take that gear for a spin and see what works, what doesn’t, and what surprises me.
You’ll also find my musings on airlines I’ve flown, cities I’ve explored, the food I stumble upon, and even the small comforts that help me stay grounded while on the road (like my new Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 earbuds, which I’ve already taken on a few test flights).
In addition to this blog, I share visual stories on social media. I post regularly on Instagram @traveling.fotog and share behind-the-scenes vlogs, travel footage on TikTok @traveling.photog, and photography content on my YouTube channel @TravelingPhotog. I also share bonus content and support material through Patreon at patreon.com/guam.photographer if you want to see more or need help supporting my work.
This blog isn’t about algorithms or hype. It’s about slowing down, noticing more, and sharing the journey. Sometimes, it’s light; sometimes, layered, but always honest.
Whether you’re a fellow photographer, a traveler, a gear nerd, or someone who enjoys thoughtful storytelling, thanks for being here. I’m glad you found this space.
Let’s see where it goes.
